Ohhhh my goodness!!! This is the best of the best! It may sound a little weird but trust me! One bite and you are in dancing tastebuds heaven! The sweet and tangy taste of the bacon jam along with the gooey cheese and smokey ham is enough to make this breakfast sandwich addicting!!
- 1/4 cup bacon jam
- 12 pieces peasant bread
- 6 pieces fully cooked ham
- 12 pieces cheddar or swiss cheese
- 1 medium tomato thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Spread bacon jam on one side of six slices of bread. Layer the ham, cheese and tomato over the jam; top with remaining bread. Butter the outsides of the sandwiches and cut in half.
Arrange sandwich pieces in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.
In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, milk and pepper; pour over sandwiches. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Plate and serve.
